In celebration of our 30th anniversary, we've compiled a collection of personal stories from our community who have been part of our journey, and who have helped define the spirit of Tommy Bahama. From heartfelt memories to simple reminders to live life like it's one long weekend, we hope these people inspire you as they've inspired us.
Golf season is well and truly underway (Unless you're one of the lucky ones able to hit the links all year round!) and we are here for it. Nothing beats the feeling of teeing off surrounded by palm trees or overlooking crashing waves, tipping your cap to the sun cruising across the sky—then celebrating at the 19th hole after. Our love for the game is why we host several
golf tournaments in support of charities
near and dear to our hearts every year—and why we are proud to sponsor professional golfers in their pursuit of excellence.
Brandt Jobe and Ken Duke are two golf pros who put Tommy Bahama's
IslandZone® performance wear
to the test on the green. We caught up with them to talk about what Tommy Bahama means for their game—on and off the course.
BRANDT JOBE ON LIFE IN THE (ISLAND)ZONE®
Colorado Golf Hall of Famer Brandt Jobe turned pro in 1988 and has since played some seriously stunning (and difficult) courses, from our shores all the way to tours in Japan. If there's anyone who knows a thing or two about the best gear for work and play alike, it's him.
“If I could take one shirt anywhere in the world,” Jobe told us, “it would be my
Palm Coast Polo.
IslandZone® shirts travel incredibly well. I should know, I've traveled the world wearing them!”
But the moisture-wicking and quick- drying properties of our golf-ready polos don't just help you nail your swing, they instantly put you in island mode too. Not bad when things are heating up on the course.
“Island mode is a way of life,” Jobe declared. “Having an island state of mind means keeping the perfect balance of buttoned up and casual. When I'm wearing Tommy Bahama, I feel like I'm always ready for a game or a Mai Tai... maybe both.”
KEN DUKE ON PLAYING HARD, LIVING EASY
Ken Duke has also spent his career cruising all around the world, chasing the next great game. He overcame childhood scoliosis to become a successful professional athlete after leading his college team to four straight Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference titles! He turned pro in 1994 playing international tours, and in 2013, earned his career-best world ranking.
Of course, Ken knows there's more to life than golf and performance wear.
“I love the style of Tommy Bahama—it keeps me looking good out there while I'm bringing my best game. But what I'd really like to do right now is pack a bag for Bora Bora! I've been dreaming about relaxing in those cabins on the beach with just
swim trunks
and some
flip-flops.”
We hear you, Ken! From the green to the sand, there's truly nothing better than Living the Island Life.
