Denim has come a long way since its days as a hardworking frontier staple. We’ve reimagined the timeless fabric from top-to-bottom to bring even more comfort, style and versatility to your life. What can we say—craftmanship is in our jeans.
Stiff Denim Giving You the Blues? Not on Our Watch!
Island living is all about embracing comfort without sacrificing style. That’s what our design team had in mind when they set out to find the magic formula for unbelievably soft, perfectly stretchy denim. They knew it had to fit like paradise right out of the box—no break-in period required. It’s more textile science than actual magic, but it feels magical and that’s what counts.
If you haven’t made the switch to our Boracay Jeans, you’re in for a treat. Next time you’re at your local Tommy Bahama store, take a minute to try on a pair of the most comfortable jeans you’ll ever own.
Casual Dates to Weekend Chill: How to Wear Denim Every Day
Demin is a dress-it-up, dress-it-down blank slate, but there are a few rules to keep in mind. We asked our in-house stylist, Brenna Carlson, for some tips on getting the most out of our favorite jeans.
For dressier days, she suggests sticking with dark colors and avoiding any distressed detailing. Add a lightweight sweater and you’re up for dinner and drinks anywhere in town. Pro tip: “When dressing your denim up, avoid the hard leather belt you'd wear with a suit and opt for a woven or soft leather belt.”
If the occasion is relaxed, but not a full-on beach-day (think casual Fridays), try denim in a neutral shade paired with a long-sleeve button-down shirt. For happy hour at the nearest Marlin bar, you can’t go wrong with light wash denim and a camp shirt that reflects your island attitude.

To Tuck or Not to Tuck—That Is the Question
According to our stylist, there’s one hard and fast rule: “Never tuck in a camp shirt! They’re designed to be untucked and the easiest shirt to throw on and go, looking put together without any effort.” The same holds true for any dress shirt with a straight hem. If your shirt is longer in back, it’s designed to tuck.
“Polo shirts can be worn tucked or untucked, depending on the length of the shirt. If the polo hangs lower than the palm of your hand, it’s best to tuck it in and add a belt. Use the same ‘rule of thumb’ when deciding whether to tuck a long-sleeve shirt.”
Now let's talk the classic combo, denim and a T-shirt! “Tees can always be untucked if worn on their own, but feel free to tuck it in and add a belt if you’re layering under a flannel or corduroy shirt. If your tee hangs below your sweater or jacket, go for a tuck.”
Play with Color
Winter, spring, summer or fall, color is denim’s best friend. Once you have your dark indigo wash (for that dressier jean looks), and your beachy, bleach wash for everyday play, it’s time to have a little fun. Colorful, printed denim looks are cheerful and eye-catching. Keep the top simple and you can go as bold as you like with Boracay below. The reverse is also true—start with classic, white denim pants, and let your personality shine with colorful tops and trendy accessories.
Material Witness: Denim vs. Chambray
Our Boracay may be the softest denim you’ll ever feel, but chambray sits in a world of its own. Like denim, chambray is most often seen in that traditional go-with-everything indigo wash, which is why the two sometimes get mixed up. Both denim and chambray are wardrobe staples and timeless favorites you’ll reach for on repeat, but when temperatures rise, you might trade your Boracay jean jacket for the chambray version! Chambray is woven specifically to retain that lighter-than-air flowy feel that makes it so well-suited to summer heat.
The Bottom Line
Do right by your denim (or your chambray) with quality materials and pairings that *stretch* the boundaries of everyone’s favorite fabric. For more tips straight from our in-house stylists, check out our spring style refresh blog—your wardrobe will thank you!
