When the crisp autumn air begins to sweep across campuses and the roar of the crowd echoes through stadiums, it’s clear that every sports fan’s favorite time of year has finally arrived! There’s a vibrant culture surrounding American college football, and nowhere is this more evident than in the spirited tradition of tailgating. It’s more than just a pre-game party; it’s a celebration of legacy where alumni, students, and fans all come together to cheer for their team, revel in camaraderie, and indulge in delicious food and drink.
At Tommy Bahama, we believe in living life to the fullest and bringing a bit of island flair to every occasion. So when game day rolled around, we traded asphalt for waves and parking lots for docks to take on a truly extraordinary tailgating tradition: sailgating. Come along with us as we embark on a special journey of island-minded fanfare.
Ready for Anything
Packing your trunks looks a little different when you’re skipping the parking lot and heading straight to the harbor. While early fall tends to have higher temps, we prepared for the breeze we’d meet on the boat with easy, light layers that still show we’re cheering for the home team. Then, we checked our stadium’s bag policies and made sure to bring along a transparent crossbody to store our belongings during the big game.
Geared Up & Fired Up!
Once we boarded, getting brews in hand was first on our agenda, of course! Pro tip: Our triple-insulated cups come in handy to help keep your bevs chilled until kickoff. With serene views surrounding us, we couldn’t imagine a better setting to be in cheerful company as we anticipated the upcoming rivalry on the field.
Tailgating Treats With a Twist
While game day traffic is usually a nightmare, none of us were complaining about this commute. As our boat started nearing the stadium, more sailgaters were out on the water indulging in the fun, honking their horns and amping up the crowd to get rowdy and ready to root.
Game On!
Once we docked, it was time to take our spirit to the stadium. After such a successful sailgate, we were ready to call it a win, no matter the outcome of the game.
This unique adventure reminds us that traditions are what make college football season so special. As you prepare for the season, remember to bring a little bit of paradise to your party, whether it be by land or sea. Time to get loud!
