Mocktails have gained widespread popularity in recent years, breathing new life into the art of mixology and offering up countless ways to serve up non-alcoholic (and equally delicious) alternatives to cocktails. Our virgin drinks are no exception, delivering bold flavors and creative mixes the whole family can enjoy!
And if Dry January isn’t your thing? Don’t worry—we’ve also got some full-strength libations that pack a punch and liven up every happy hour.
That Summer State of MindJanuary may bring cold, dark, dreary weather to our doors, but we don’t let that bog us down! Sometimes, all it takes is the right mindset—and a refreshing beverage—to lighten up the mood. So we’re serving up some summertime vibes with these strawberry-forward drinks.
The Never Say Never, one of our newest mocktails, is a frothy, rich mix of strawberry, citrus, and ginger. There’s a foamy, velvety texture here that complements the tart sweetness. Will you have more than one in a night? Well, we never say never!
By combining real strawberries, grapefruit juice, egg white, and a citrus-forward non-alcoholic spirit like Seedlip Grove 42 in a shaker, you can make this drink at home, no spirits required. However, we’re always happy to make it for you at the Grapefruit Basil™ in our Tommy Bahama Miramonte Resort & Spa.
If you’re not participating in Dry January, we have just the drink for you: the Strawberry Fields for Summer. We’re sure you can guess the primary ingredient here! This gin cocktail supports strawberries with fresh, savory basil, with some lemon juice that cuts through it all.
To make it yourself, you’ll want to start by muddling the basil leaves and strawberries in a cocktail shaker. Then add gin, lemon juice, simple syrup, and ice before shaking it all up. Once you pour it out, top it off with some soda water and garnish it with more basil and strawberries. We have the exact measurements listed on our official Strawberry Fields for Summer recipe.
The Island SpiritWhen we think of libations from paradise, nothing gets more tropical than mixing pineapples and coconuts. While it’d be pretty easy to serve up a delicious virgin piña colada, we go the extra mile to create an all-time original: Meet the Hawaiian Fizz Mocktail. By adding tart limes and soda water to the mix, this drink is a fun spin on the iconic cocktail, with a delightfully fizzy texture that’s as fun to drink as it is delicious.
It’s also a total breeze to make at home! Throw equal parts pineapple juice, Coco López®, lime juice, and simple syrup into a shaker and shake them up. Then pour that into a glass and top with soda water. Don’t forget your garnish! We recommend a pineapple leaf and fresh pineapple if you have it. And there you have it: an intentionally crafted mocktail that captures the island spirit—and our taste buds—just as much as any of its cocktail cousins.
Looking for a spirited option? Cue the classic! When it comes to the flavor of paradise, you can’t beat the Piña Colada. This sweet treat tastes like tropical magic thanks to the pineapple and coconut mixing, and the blended ice adds a nice slushy texture that makes it an absolute treat.
Simply build the drink in a blender by adding white rum, Coco López®, pineapple cubes, and ice, then start blending. Once it’s homogenous, pour it into a glass and float some dark rum on top. The best part? You can use the same garnishes you did for the Hawaiian Fizz so everyone can join your getaway-themed party!
Dry Drinks for Dry JanuaryWhen you’re not in the mood for super sweet drinks, there’s nothing quite like a dry gin and tonic to soothe the soul. For a zero-proof twist on it, one of our new mocktails has your back. The London Bridges uses an alcohol-free London spirit as a substitute for the gin—and it’s just as delicious.
At the Grapefruit Basil™, we use Lyre’s Dry London Spirit as the base, then fill with a lemon tonic. The spirit has notes of juniper, citrus, and pepperberry, which we complement with our choices of garnish. Lemon and lime peels, raspberries, and pink peppercorns round out the mocktail and give it a full body that’s bracing, zesty, and brisk.
If you’re opting out of Dry January, then we’ve got the original ready and waiting for you! The Tommy G&T uses our own Island Gin as the base, featuring distinct cucumber, hibiscus, and elderflower notes to give the juniper extra depth and texture. When it combines with the tonic water and a dash of grapefruit bitters, it transforms into something extraordinary.
You probably already have a preference when it comes to how you build your own gin and tonic. We usually garnish the Tommy G&T with raspberry, cucumber, lemon peel, and juniper berries or pink peppercorn. And if we’re feeling fancy, we’ll add an edible flower on top, too. If you don’t want to gather all those ingredients though, we’re happy to make it for you at any of our Restaurants & Marlin Bars.
Cheers to Dry January!Hitting reset at the start of the year doesn’t mean you have to give up social hours and refreshing drinks. With the right mocktails—and good company—January can taste just as sweet and delicious. And if you’re opting out, there are plenty of full-strength libations out there that know how to party.
